Glad you asked. And if you didn't, I'm still telling you.
In the 1960's, Ocicats were accidentally created by the combination of a siamese and Abyssinian. A kitten in the litter, Tonga, turned out spotted. The breeder, Virginia Dalai sold Tonga as a pet and had him neutered. Soon, people approached her telling to repeat the breeding and hence the Ocicat was born.
The breed gained full recognition in the CFA in the 1980's.
Ocicats are medium sized muscular cats. Unlike Bengals, savannahs and other spotted breeds, Ocicats have no wild blood.
They come in 12 colors - chocolate, cinnamon, tawny, fawn, blue, lavendar, chocolate silver, cinnamon silver, ebony silver, fawn silver, blue silver, and lavendar silver.
Ocicats are cats with wonderful purrsonalities. They are friendly and love their people. Our big blue male loves nothing more than to be on someone's lap, 24/7 if he could.
The picture at the top of the screen is of our cinnamon Ocicat female, Angel, showing off her spots.
